Back in the first half of 2017, SCAD Design was engaged to design a new F3D Pylon Racing Aircraft, The “Vector”. F3D is like the Formula One of model aircraft, capable of being piloted around a triangular course at 350 kph.
SCAD Design undertook this project using our experience in advanced surface modelling and model aircraft design. With the guidance of our client, expert model aircraft designer and renowned manufacturer, Steve Taylor of A1 Composites, we designed the whole model in SolidWork. On completion, we also manufactured the fuselage master plug and managed the manufacture of precision aluminium moulds for the wing and tail fins.
During August 2019, the F3D World Championships took place in Maryborough (QLD, Australia). World Champion pylon racer, Chris Callow took out the individual first pace flying the “Vector” making him a six-time world champion. Australia also won the team event.
SCAD Design congratulates Chris Callow and the whole Australia team for a fantastic result.
